Essential Businesses Can Remain Open
Businesses and organizations should check this list to find out if they are defined as providing "COVID-19 Essential Services" under this emergency order. The Administration updated this list, which is based on updated federal guidance, on March 31. The new list goes into effect on April 1 at noon.
Recent State Action for Small Businesseses
On Monday, March 16th the Baker Administration launched a $10M Small Business Recovery Loan Fund in partnership with Mass Growth Capital Corporation.
On Tuesday, March 17th, Governor Baker sent a letter to the US Small Business Association (US SBA) that petitions the federal agency to issue an economic disaster declaration for Massachusetts.
On Wednesday afternoon, the US SBA approved this request, which allowed the state access to the Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) program for more resources, including subsidized loans, to help get capital to businesses in need.
The Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development modifications to the Unemployment Insurance (UI) will also help support businesses and employees as well as the tax relief measures for small local businesses put forth by Department of Revenue.
