H 1191 An Act relative to access to health insurance for human service providers and their employees

Type:  Healthcare

The bill proposes that providers have access to the state’s Group Insurance Commission (GIC) to increase access to health insurance products and to control insurance costs.  Due to the large buying power of the GIC, its pricing may be more favorable than what a provider can obtain for similar products. This bill will adequately allow human service providers access to the multiple plans and rates of the Commonwealth’s Group Insurance Commission (GIC) currently provides. (This is a refile of a bill from the 2009-2010 Legislative Session. It currently sits in the Joint Committee on Financial Services and has been ordered to a study.)
