Legislation

H.1797 An Act relative to the civil commitment of women for alcoholism and substance abuse to MCI Fr

Type:  Mental Health and Substance Abuse

This bill would amend the General Laws so that women who are civilly committed for alcoholism or substance abuse treatment are placed in civil facilities only and not the Massachusetts Correctional Institution at Framingham.  Additionally, legislation calls on the Department of Public Health to maintain the necessary number of secure beds for the treatment of women under civil commitment for alcoholism and substance abuse treatment (this is a refile of H.1790).
